Action Needed: Microsoft Ending Support for Server 2016
What is happening?
Windows Server 2016 is nearing its end of Support. Microsoft have announced that, as of January 2027, extended support for Server 2016 will be ending. After this date, there will no longer be security updates, feature updates, bug fixes or technical support from Microsoft.
What this means for you:
- No Technical Support: Microsoft will no longer help with any Server 2016 issues.
- No Security Updates: Your system will be more vulnerable to malware and viruses.
- No Feature Updates: You will not receive any new features or improvements.
- Pegasus Opera 3: No longer supported on Server 2016.
What can you do?
Replacing or upgrading your server is no small task as it can affect applications, backups and business continuity. Starting to plan now allows you to:
- Assess which servers and applications still run on Server 2016.
- Understand if you wish to replace with an on-premise server or move to the cloud.
- Consider if a hybrid option with a cloud backup might be appropriate.
- Plan properly and avoid rushed decisions.
- Reduce disruption for users and customers.
- Ensure you avoid cyber risk and maintain compliance

Here Are Some Key Payroll Year End Dates To Remember…..
Managing payroll throughout the tax year involves several important deadlines that employers must follow. Missing these dates can lead to penalties or compliance issues, so it’s important to understand what needs to happen and when.
In the UK, the tax year runs from 6 April to 5 April the following year, and employers must complete several payroll reporting and administrative tasks during this period.
Below is a summary of key dates to remember:
| On or before final payday | Send your final Full Payment Submission (FPS) payroll report for the year. |
| 5 April 2026 | The 2025/2026 tax year ends. |
| From 6 April 2026 | Update employee payroll records and ensure your payroll software is updated for the new tax year’s rates and thresholds. |
| By 31 May 2026 | Provide a P60 form to all employees who were on your payroll on 5 April 2026. |
| By 6 July 2026 | Submit P11D (expenses and benefits) and P11D(b) (Class 1A NIC declaration) forms for expenses and benefits not processed through payroll. |
| By 19 July 2026 | Pay Class 1A National Insurance contributions (NIC) on P11D benefits by post. |
| By 22 July 2026 | Pay Class 1A National Insurance contributions (NIC) on P11D benefits electronically. |
